David & Cindy Lawson Proprietors
David and Cindy founded Covington Cellars in their garage in Covington WA in 2002. Cindy is from Texas, and David was born and raised in Edmonds WA. After Cindy infected David with the wine bug, the couple enrolled in Enology classes and immediately started making hobby wine. In 2005 Covington Cellars moved to Woodinville WA, where production remained until 2020 when we moved into our new state of the art production facility in Maltby. In 2020 we also broke ground on our Texas Hill Country Tasting Room and forthcoming vineyard. Today, David and Cindy split their time between their wineries in Washington State and the Texas Hill Country, and are proudly making wines from both regions.
Morgan is an Indiana native and was our very first employee back in 2007! Since then, he’s made quite the name for himself in the wine world; producing highly acclaimed wines that we are proud to share with you. Morgan lives in Kirkland Washington with his wife Sally, children Oliver and Claire, and his black lab named Alice.
Director of Hospitality
Kerri’s passion for the wine industry led her to achieve a hospitality degree in Wine Business from Washington State University. She’d worked in wine for a few years before finding her way to Covington in 2015. She began working as a tasting room associate and quickly moved her way up the ranks to becoming Director of Hospitality. Kerri is married to her husband Zak and shares with him two fur babies, Blaze and Cash. Kerri and Zak have relocated to Texas so that Kerri can continue her passion working in wine while Zak pursues his passion for coaching college football.
Hospitality Manager / Cellar Assistant
Sabrina began her career in wine, right here in our cellar! She was our harvest intern in 2018 and has worked in the tasting room ever since. After 3 years of working in various facets of the Washington Wine industry, Sabrina is now taking on a bigger role that combines hospitality duties as well as cellar work. Sabrina is a graduate of the University of Washington.
Vineyard / Marketing
Haley is originally from Seattle, but has a degree in International Business from the University of Otago in New Zealand. She studied at the Northwest Wine Academy before joining our production team as a harvest intern in 2020. Haley recently relocated to Texas to help with our social media, work in the tasting room, study viticulture and help with vineyard management – and anything else that needs to be done!
Culinary / Groundskeeper
Cheylan is a Western Washington University graduate with a degree in Business. She started her journey with Covington right after high school, by working in our kitchen in Woodinville. After graduating from college she returned to Covington Cellars, and relocated to Austin to help us with our new Texas wine venture. Here, she leads our culinary program, help us in the garden and with our bees, as well as managing the grounds with the help of her new pup, Kai.
